Advice from the Vaïta team

A coastal path to a small stone harbour

The official path sets off from the old open-air cinema in Porto — allow 20 minutes on foot from the hotel, or 5 minutes by car. The path was rebuilt in 2025. It follows the coast westwards with superb views over the gulf, and comes out at the Port de Castagna: a small stone quay at the water's edge, with its red and white railing and granite slabs dipping into the blue.

Allow 1.6 km one way, so 3.2 km there and back, for 99 m of cumulative ascent — the path never climbs more than about forty metres above the sea. It is an easy walk, and the far end lends itself very well to a swim.

Two ways to get there

The official path, the one traced below, is the simpler. There is also a variant starting just past the climbing wall on Porto beach: more direct, but distinctly more technical — you have to use your hands to climb. For sure-footed walkers only.
