Advice from the Vaïta team

A beach where you will often be alone

First you have to make your way to Partinello. It is a small commune: a little grocery shop and a fountain, and that is about it. From there a road drops down to the beach, and you will find a large signboard describing several hikes.

Allow 1h30 to 2h there and back to reach Mesarinu beach. The path was completely rebuilt in 2024: perfectly waymarked, straightforward, sometimes shaded, sometimes with an open view over the sea. Along the way you pass an abandoned sheepfold, now in ruins.

Of all the routes on that signboard, this is the only one I have done. If you walk one of the others, take photos and send them to me — I will gladly add them to these pages.

Once you are there

Mesarinu beach is ideal. If no boat comes past, you will generally have it to yourselves — thanks to the absence of tourism in Partinello. Mask and snorkel strongly recommended, it is a treat. And nothing stops you building a driftwood hut.

Other hikes to explore

The Postman's Trail

The trail once walked by Guy Ceccaldi, Girolata's postman until 2006, to the isolated village, with a stop at Tuara Stella beach.

Porto — Bussaglia

Magnificent, but the start from the Porto marina is treacherous. Set off from the mobile mast instead.

Shepherds' huts path

Ruins of a dry-stone shepherd hut, with views over Porto harbour and its Genoese tower. Easy and short.

Sainte-Lucie village

An abandoned village above the Porto–Ota road, with a view over the gulf. Very short, very easy, and in the shade.
