The 14 July fireworks light up the Porto marina, free entry, preceded by a concert on the square around 9pm. The show starts around 11pm — the most anticipated evening of the summer in Porto.

  • 🏖️ Porto beach — the spot for couples and young people. Lie back, have a picnic, catch the sunset before the show. A little further from the music, but the softest atmosphere — bring a bottle of rosé (we have a fridge at the hotel to keep it chilled).
  • 🎆 Place de la Marina — the best sound and the best show, surrounded by Porto's hotels: the explosions resonate with the concert. Spots get scarce; some prefer the restaurant terraces nearby.
  • 🚗 The seasonal workers' secret — on the road to the Calanques out of Porto, ~100 m above the Genoese tower (by car). A view almost at eye level with the fireworks, without the noise, with the sea lighting up below: perfect for latecomers finishing their shift.

On 12 August 2026, Corsica will experience an exceptional partial solar eclipse, visible in the early evening low on the western horizon — an eclipsed sunset over the sea. First contact around 7:30pm. For comparison, in Ajaccio, obscuration reaches 94.1% with a maximum around 8:24pm; in Bastia, 92.8%. Porto, on the same west coast of the island, will experience a similar phenomenon — we don't have official timings specific to our gulf, but the wait will be worth it.

⚠️ ISO 12312-2 certified glasses are essential throughout the eclipse, even when the Sun is very largely covered. Never look at the Sun with the naked eye or with ordinary sunglasses — get equipped well before 12 August, as stock runs out fast as the date approaches.
