Pebbles that do not hurt
This is the detail that changes everything, and it is rarely mentioned. The pebbles at Bussaglia are fine: they do not hurt underfoot, unlike the large ones at Porto, and they do not fill the car with sand on the way home, unlike the fine-sand beaches. Some are even just flat and wide enough to skim beautifully across the water — enough to fill a late afternoon.
Three beaches in one
Bussaglia reads in three parts, and each has its use.
In the middle, the pebble beach, with the two beach bars and the rentals. This is where you settle for an ordinary swim.
To the right, a small sandy beach — small but big enough — ending on rocks. Rocks mean fish: this is the spot for a mask and snorkel.
Right at the far end, large rocks. You can climb them, bouldering or on the cliff, you find shade there when the rest of the beach is baking, and there are a few shallow but pleasantly cool caves.
The two beach bars
The Mare Chiare and the Galets sit in the middle of the beach. Their menus are fairly close to one another, so the choice comes down to which has a free table and to the mood of the moment. Having lunch without getting back in the car is what makes the stop so easy.
One useful detail if you check the reviews before choosing: the Galets changed hands in 2026. Anything older than a year is describing a different team — filter on recent reviews, or you will be judging the place on someone else's work.
Kayaks, paddleboards, pedal boats and licence-free boats
The Corse Émotion water sports base sits in the middle of the beach: it rents kayaks, paddleboards, pedal boats and licence-free boats, as well as parasols and sun loungers. The licence-free boat is the most interesting: it is the cheapest way to see the coast from the water, at your own pace, without booking an excursion. The pedal boat, for its part, keeps children busy for a good half of the afternoon.
The naturist area, to the left
Heading left, one stretch is often given over to naturists. The two uses have coexisted without trouble for a long time, but it is worth knowing before you lay your towel on one side or the other. And if you like swimming, note that further left still lies a beach no path reaches: you can only get there by swimming.
Coming on foot from Porto
Bussaglia is also the finishing point of the Porto — Bussaglia walk. If you have two cars, or someone willing to come and collect you, it is a fine way to arrive at a beach: you walk along the coast, and the reward is a swim.
For a swim stop, the perfect beach
The drive, the ease of parking, the absence of both over-fine sand and painful pebbles: for going swimming without giving up the day to it, we know nothing better in the gulf. If on the other hand you are looking for a beach to spend the whole day on, carry on down the list of beaches — Arone and its fine sand are waiting right at the far end.
