Porto is part of the commune of Ota
Many visitors are surprised to learn it: Porto is not a commune in its own right. The Porto marina, its Genoese tower and its hotels are administratively part of the commune of Ota, in Corse-du-Sud (postcode 20150). People often say « Porto-Ota » to refer to the whole.
The village of Ota itself is perched in the mountains a few kilometres above the sea, overlooked by the granite needles of Capo d'Orto. That is where the Ota town hall sits, running the whole communal territory — village of Ota and Porto marina included. If you have any administrative business during your stay, or simply need official information, the Ota town hall is where to turn.
Good to know: Hôtel Le Vaïta is on the Porto marina, within the commune of Ota. The village of Ota is about 10 minutes away by car, along a mountain road with superb viewpoints over the gulf.
