Postman's Trail and Mare e Monti Hike from Osani — Where to Stay?

There is no hotel in Osani — only a few private rentals. Hotel Le Vaïta is in Porto, more than 30 minutes' drive from Osani. It's not just around the corner, but if you're hiking the Mare e Monti or the postman's trail to Girolata from the col de la Croix, we're used to sorting out the logistics for hikers: luggage, early breakfast, packed lunch.

The advantage of staying in Porto is first of all everyday comfort: a small Spar supermarket on site, and beautiful rivers nearby to cool off between hikes.

But above all, Porto is at the heart of western Corsica: you're less than 30 minutes from all the best hikes in the region. 15 minutes from Piana, and so from Capo Rosso; 30 minutes from Évisa, and so from the Aïtone waterfalls; and of course, Osani and the col de la Croix.

How to reach the col de la Croix

You can reach the col de la Croix by car, or by bus (Porto-Calvi line), with a return around 2pm if you're leaving Osani after your hike on the postman's trail.

Practical

Your luggage while you're hiking

You can leave your luggage free of charge at the hotel, in a locked room, for the duration of your hike.

If you're taking the Porto-Calvi bus, we can also drop your luggage directly on the bus for you (€5 per large bag, for the driver). This service only runs from 11 July to 16 August, departure 8am — please bring your luggage to us well in advance.

Early breakfast for an early hiking start

Breakfast is served from 7:30am. On request, we prepare it earlier — we're used to starting at 7am for guests with a boat trip or a long day's hike ahead.

A packed lunch for your picnic

My wife prepares light dishes for a picnic, to order at reception (menu and prices available on site, and they change regularly depending on what's in season).
