Extraordinary natural sculptures

The Calanques de Piana are one of Corsica's most spectacular sites. These pink granite rock formations, sculpted by millions of years of erosion, offer a breathtaking landscape, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1983.

Located between Porto and the village of Piana, these cliffs plunge into a deep blue sea, creating a striking contrast with the orange-red rock. The road that crosses them offers unforgettable viewpoints, while several hiking trails allow you to explore them up close.

A 15 million year history

The Calanques de Piana owe their orange-red color to the region's volcanic past. These granite rocks were formed by the slow cooling of magma at depth, then sculpted for millions of years by wind, rain and sea.

The pink granite towers rise majestically over 300 meters above the Mediterranean, forming fantastic silhouettes that evoke castles, animals or human faces. It is the only granitic calanques site listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
