Every room has its own air conditioning
In the height of summer, in the Gulf of Porto, nights can be heavy. Many Corsican hotels, particularly older ones, still have no air conditioning at all — or run a centralised system, with a single temperature imposed across the whole hotel. That's not our choice.
At Hotel Le Vaïta, all 26 rooms are individually air-conditioned. No centralised system: each room has its own unit and its own remote control, which means every guest sets their temperature exactly as they wish, without depending on a neighbour's setting or a general house rule.
Honesty first: some of our units are older than others. But every single one works very well, without exception. And if, in the worst case, a unit were ever to break down, we always keep two spare units in reserve — enough to replace a faulty unit the very same day.
Rooms air-conditioned today, restaurant and reception by 2027
Today, only the rooms are air-conditioned. The restaurant and reception are not yet — and we'd rather say so clearly than let you assume otherwise. Walking into a cool, tempered hotel from the moment you arrive would be a real plus for our guests, and it's a project we already have in mind.
For 2027, we're planning to install an air/water heat pump to cool the restaurant, with a circuit that will also cool the reception area. It's not just about guest comfort — it's also a choice designed around the hotel's energy use, explained just below.
Taking the strain off the kitchen's 14 refrigeration motors
Our restaurant runs on 14 refrigeration motors. Each one loses energy on its own, and each one struggles to cool properly given the ambient heat of a kitchen in full service. The hotter it gets around a fridge motor, the more energy it burns trying to hold its temperature.
An air/water heat pump draws coolness from deep groundwater and channels it into the kitchen, at a lower energy cost than a standard air conditioning system. The expected result: our fridge motors will have to work less hard to cool, the kitchen will be a more pleasant place to work, and both the restaurant and reception will benefit from the same system.
